Day 13 - Heli Skiing!

Our lunch spot!

Today Mike and I fulfilled a dream we both have had to go heli skiing. With the overcast / rain this week they had not taken clients up since Monday and were pleased to have a bright sunny day today, to begin operations again. Ten cm. of snow had fallen overnight so they were optimistic about the conditions. We flew from Queenstown to Wanaka (about 50 miles) in the helicopter and saw as soon as we went up that this country (or at least this part of the country) really is covered by mountains! Stunning!

Between Mike and myself, we took tons of photos and videos and as I write this, it’s nearly 11:00pm, and so I’ll have to complete this blogpost later…tomorrow or as we travel home even.

We have one more day of skiing tomorrow (Friday) and then Saturday we travel back to Wisconsin. I’ll get caught up as soon as I can!
